  1. That was great Alison, he was so well behaved! I didn't know they live SO long ... I knew it was a long time but not THAT long. Wow. I really enjoyed watching him watching everyone in the studio! He was checking it all out... and being so professional. Tell him he's really won a fan in me over here in Aus! May I ask you a bit of a personal question (sort of) ... since you know about cockatoos ... have you made a sort of ... well, I guess plan for him when you pass? I would not have even thought of something like that ... it's sort of sad isn't it? But if you'd rather not discuss, I respect your privacy. Well, again - thanks you for sharing, it was lovely to see him in action! Best, Jenny

  2. I actually get asked that question a lot once people find out how long they can live. I have included him (and all my pets) in my will and I do have both short term and long term plans in the event I predecease him. It really depends how old he is and who is still around for him who is capable of caring for him, but worst case he will go to a bird sanctuary and be with other cockatoos. Hopefully, we won't have to worry about it for a long time, but it definitely is a much bigger issue with parrots than with dogs or cats. I never had to think that I might not outlive one of my pets before, but with one that can live up to 100 years I had to! I will tell him he has a fan in his native land. Yes, Chris is very well behaved on camera, but at home it's a different story! Maybe I should get cameras at home and he will be a good boy! ;*)
